Sunday, November 14 – Treasure God by Giving

The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.
– Matthew 13.44

Treasuring God means letting go of others things – things that want to be treasured more than Him. The Bible calls them idols, and while anything can be an idol, more often than not, it boils down to money and the things money can buy.

God wants to give us the things that money can’t buy – which may mean saying good-bye to some of our money in giving.

Read Mark 10:17-27 and 1 Timothy 6:3-10, 17-19

The Bible both commands and commends giving as part of a regular and healthy relationship with God.

What joy and treasure might you be missing out on due to your unwillingness to give?
