i launched this blog with my first post on march 25, 2008 – making this the second birthday of midweekjolt! for those of you who know me well, you know how quickly i get bored and like change. so two years of writing posts every week is worth celebrating (OK, so i missed last week. get over it).
two years of posts in itself is pretty cool, but what i am really excited about is the feedback i have gotten since i began. many of you have taken the time to send a comment, a thank-you, or a note of encouragement. that’s awesome, and i greatly appreciate them all.
i’m also celebrating the growing reach of the blog. i initiated it because i felt there just wasn’t enough time on sunday to say all the things i wanted to say to the flock at Threshold. thought this would be a good way to help THD keep current on what we are doing as a church, to provide some devotional thoughts, to address certain issues that didn’t fit into our sunday morning worship.
but now there are people reading these posts beyond the church. high school classmates. former ministry partners. old friends. a guy from australia. thanks to all of you for feeling like i have anything of worth to say.
the affirmation you all have provided has given me a greater understanding and appreciation for the way paul opens some of his letters:
Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God… (philippians 1.3-7)
as paul wrote letters, he felt and communicated a special kinship with a those he knew who had come to know the grace of God in Jesus Christ. he wrote to celebrate that and to encourage those friends to continue to live a life that glorified and enjoyed God.
i suppose if paul had access to the internet, he would have blogged too.
as this celebration enters its third year, i’d love to hear from you. use the response form on this site or just send me an email (email@example.com) to let me know how this blog has been helpful. maybe let me know if there was a particular post that you found meaningful. or suggest a topic you’d like to see addressed in the future.
how can this blog grow? what can i add to make it more helpful? can you think of additional features that could be added?
are you a web designer who can take it to the next level, help me make it more personal?
or just let me know you’re out there and reading these. who knows, maybe an old friend has come across the blog and i don’t even know it.
thanks for reading, and for celebrating with me.
